Recipe: Andhra
Source: Ammamma(Grand Mother)
Ingredients:
1cup buttermilk/yogurt/curd
3-4 tsp of thinly chopped onion
1 green chilly chopped
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2-3 dried red chillies
1 tsp chopped ginger
1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp black gram
1/2 tsp Channa Dal/chickpeas
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp oil
8-10 curry leaves
salt to taste
dash hing
1. Beat the yogurt with the whisk gently, add 1 cup of water, salt to it to make buttermilk.
2. Add chopped onion and a pinch of turmeric to it.
For Tempering:
1. Heat the oil for a minute then add red chili, black gram and chick peas, saute them for a minute till lentils change their colour to golden brown.
2. Add mustard seeds, cumin, pinch of turmeric, hing, green chili, ginger,curry leaves. let them crack and add it to the prepared buttermilk. It's done. Simple.......... isn't it.......
Serve this with plain rice(rice should not be warm/hot).
Use sour curd or yogurt with 1/2 tsp of lemon juice
