Meditation..... a stylized mental technique, couple of days back I have got an opportunity to attend a meditation class of 'Kelsang Leksang' (my teacher), gave me a fabulous experience. It is a self regulation practice that one can attain concentration and mental well-being. The word Meditation is from Latin, meditatio meaning "to think or devise". History shows the tradition of meditation originated from Asian countries like Japan, China and India. It is a safe and simple way to balance one’s physical, emotional and mental well being. Yoga is originated from India and has gone popular globally in recent years and is said to be one of the best world's health maintenance systems. Yoga and Meditation goes hand in hand. The goals of Yoga are varied and to achieve physical, mental well being and spiritual discipline. The sanskrit term yoga means 'to attach' or 'to unite' and its cleansing practices have proven to be extremely effective for various disorders. The key elements of yoga is in gaining mental peace, improved concentration, relaxed state of living and harmony in relationships. To attain full benefits of yoga one has to combine the practices of yogasanas, pranayama and meditation.
One of the principals of yoga is 'pranayama', which is combination of words 'prana'(life force/the breath) and 'aayama'(restrain/control) means control of breath and involves a temporary pause or interval in the movement of the breath.The process of Pranayama is involved with breathing and if it is done wrongly, it may do harm to the person. If it is learnt and practiced under an expert's guidance, one learns soon and experiences the wonderful and even unimaginable benefits.
