Drumstick, Yellow Cucumber Curry

Yellow Cucumber or Lemon Cucumber is a gourd family vegetable called Dosakai(in Telugu) is available in parts of India. This can be used as raw and also preserved like pickle too. It's intake is very good for those who have dry skin as it keeps the skin fresh and smooth. Cucumber juice is best tonic for your skin and it also improves your complexion keeping the skin glowing and fresh.

Ingredients:
1 medium sized yellow cucumber
1 large onion
2 drum sticks
8-10 curry leaves
2 green chillies
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 cup of milk.
2 tsp oil
1 tsp musturd seeds
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp urid dal/black gram
1/4 tsp hing/asefateda
1/4 tsp turmaric

1. Heat 2 tsp of oil in a heavy bottomed vessel, add black gram for a min then add musturd seeds, let it sputter, then add cumin, turmaic and hing. This is basic temering for all sorts of vegetarian curries.
2. Then add chopped green chills, curry leaves and onions and saute for 3-4 min.
3. Cut the drumsticks into 2inch cubes, add them to onion at this point, let them fry for a minute.
4. chop the cucumber into 1 cm cubes, now add them to the drumsticks.
5. Add salt to taste, if required 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder, add 1 small cup of water, cover the vessel with a lid and let it cook for 8-10 min. stirring, so that it does not stick to the vessel.
6. After 10 min add milk to it (do not cover the lid once the milk is added) stir it for 2 min. Turn off heat, garnish with cilantro.

Note: This tastes good with plain rice.
