Chilli Masala Gravy

Spicy food lovers claims that, eating hot food have some health benefits, the ingredient which makes chilli hot is capsaicin. It is accepted that eating spicy food promotes sweating and is good to eat if someone has cold and this increases metabolism as well. Some researches suggest that it may help with weight loss.

Ingredients:
10-15 bullet green chillies
2 big onions chopped
2 big tomatoes, paste
7-8 tsp cilantro chopped
2 tsp mint chopped
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
6-8 tsp oil
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp garam masala powder
4-5 tsp of lime juice
1/4 tsp turmeric
For gravy:
8-10 cashew
5-6 tsp sesame seeds
4-5 tsp grated coconut flesh
2 tsp poppy seeds




1. Wash chillies thoroughly, slit them, remove seeds from it, keep them aside.
2. Heat 4-5 tsp of oil in a skillet, fry the chillies, let it cool
3. In the same skillet add the rest 2 tsp of oil, let it heat, add onions to it, saute them for 5-6 min.
4. add turmaric, ginger-garlic paste, cilantro, mint, tomato paste, let it cook for 4-5 min, with the lid on stirring occasionally.
5. This time make a paste of cashew, sesame, coconut, poppy seeds.
6. Add Chillies and salt and red chilli powder , cover the lid for 2-3 min
7. Once it is cooked(turned soft), add the gravy paste and garam masala powder
8. Now add coconut milk to it, cook it for another 5 min, turn the heat off.
9. Finally add lime juice to it.
10. Serve with biryani rice or roti(Indian bread)
