Oats Idly


Oats are grown in temperature regions. Oatmeal is eaten as porridge and contain soluble fibre than any other grain. Oat extract can be used to soothe skin conditions.




Ingredients 

1 1/2 cup Rolled Oats powder
3/4 cup Sooji/Semolina 
2-3 cups Yogurt
1/2 tsp Baking soda 
1/2 cup Carrots grated (optional)
2 tsp Cashew bits 
2 tsp Coriander leaves finely chopped 
1-2 Green chillies 
Salt to taste

Seasoning 
2 tsp Oil 
1 tsp Urad dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds 
1/2 tsp cumin
 curry leaves a few
1/8 tsp Asafoetida/Hing 

Method

1. Heat oil in a skillet add all seasoning ingredients, let mustard splutter
2. Add chillies, carrots, cashews and saute them for a minute or two.
3. Now add coarsely powdered oats, sooji, salt, fry them for 2-3 min
4. Transfer it to bowl and let it cool down.
5. Add yogurt to it. To get a idly batter consistency add water if required.
6. Now add coriander leaves and hing mix thoroughly and leave it aside for 15-20 min. 
7. Then grease Idly plates and pour the batter into each of the moulds and steam them for 15 min.
8. Turn off the flame and let them cool down.
9. Tastes good with coconut or peanut chutney.
